Can you think of the best gift you ever gave? I know over the years I have given my husband some gifts that he has really liked, but I don’t consider them the best. My husband is very picky so shopping for him includes a very specific list of things he would like. While I can pick from that list it takes out some of the elements of surprise.

I think the best gift I have ever given was to my dad on year for Christmas. My dad is notoriously hard to shop for. It has always been a struggle to find something that I knew he would love. So one year I decided to go easy on myself and get him things that I knew he liked. The idea was so simple but it became the gift that he talked about for years to come.

I just made a big gift basket and put in it all the things he loves. Lots of his favorite candy, snacks and foods, gift certificates to Blockbuster, the local movie theater and Borders. The thing I love about gifts like this is that they are easily tailored to anyone you know. Have someone in your family who is into crafts and sewing? Just fill the basket with knitting needles, sewing needles, yarn, thread, fabric and gift certificates to local craft stores. The possibilities are endless.

With the Christmas holiday just behind us if you are anything like me you now have a stack of gift cards to use. The one problem with gift cards is that they take up so much space in your wallet, they are hard to keep organized and you can end up spending cash at a store only to discover later you did in fact have a gift card to use.

This is where SWAGG can help. SWAGG is a mobile phone app that keeps track of your gift cards for you. Just load up the info into your SWAGG account, and access it on the spot from your iPhone or Droid. Just show SWAGG on your phone to the cashier and check out. How cool and easy is that?

Sign up is super easy also and once you have a SWAGG account you can even shop for other gift cards. Perfect for gift giving and even those gifts to yourself.

One more added benefit of SWAGG is they have partnered up with non-profit Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). For every download of the app between now and Dec. 31, 2010, SWAGG will donate $1 to the organization, up to $125,000. What are you waiting for? Sign up now for SWAGG, organize those gift cards and help fight cancer all at the same time.
