Memorial Day Campout

Some of you may have noticed that I was MIA for the weekend. We decided to go camping. Last year I was pregnant all summer and the last thing in the world I wanted to do was camp. This year, I agreed to go with a 3 month old baby. I may be insane.

But really. Look at that view from our campsite. How could you not relax while looking at that? Friday ended up being a beautiful day. The high was supposed to be 71 and it didn’t make it above 69. It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy the sun without sweating to death. This year was busy and every campsite was full. While it was nosier than what we are used to it was still enjoyable.

The boss approves!

Of course along with camping goes dirt and lots of it. I learned a couple of years ago it is useless to try and keep anyone clean throughout the day. So instead, I let Genghis get as dirty as he wants and give him a good scrubbing before bed. And you can’t have a campfire without S’mores.

He is very serious about his S’mores.

Saturday was a different story. It was hot, hot, hot! It got up to 90 and even in nothing but a diaper, the little lady was not happy. She spent the day fussing and wanting to nurse nonstop. Of course because it was so hot, the last thing in the world I wanted was to let her nurse nonstop. In the end she won.

We ended up coming home a day early but only because it was so hot. All said and done, camping with a baby is really not that hard. She loved being outside and having lots to look at and of course Genghis had a blast.
