How do you make sure you child maintains a healthy diet?

I am not very old but I am not exactly a spring chicken either. I was born in the mid 70’s when growing your own food and eating natural products were the ‘in’ thing to do. I am one of 6 children and I remember spending countless days outside helping my parents work in the garden.

My mom used to say that baking her own bread was easier than buying it at the store. And any of those prepackaged, pre-made meals were non existent in our home. It was not until I got married and my husband, in complete shock, made me try my very first TV dinner. It was horrible.

I believe that the way we eat as children shape how we eat as adults. I have always loved fresh vegetables, salads, homemade bread, and made from scratch meals.

In eating the same things I grew up eating, I am able to pass on the same good eating habits to my children. I think I have the only 5 year old on the planet who will only eat pizza if it is homemade. Both of my children love green vegetables and choose real cheese over the packages singles any day.

By skipping the convenience meals of today and instead opting for made from scratch, home cooked meals, I am ensuring that my children will grow up and make good food choices. At the same time, I am also busy. And sometimes a cooked from scratch meal is just not in the cards.

Luckily Tyson makes products for days when I need some help. I love that their chicken nuggets are 100% natural, all breast meat, with no fillers or preservatives. So even when I need some help for a fast dinner, I do not have to sacrifice healthy for convenience.

From now until March 31st, you can show Tyson your Nugget Face in their Get a Smile Get a Smile contest. By serving your child Tyson nuggets and getting their smile on camera, Tyson will then give a smile by donating 4 million meals to hungry families.

Thanks to Tyson’s 100% All Natural Chicken Nuggets, now you don’t have to choose between making your kids happy and feeding them balanced meals.

But I’m curious, how do you ensure your child maintains a balanced diet? Join the conversation and Tyson will select a winner and donate $500 in the winner’s name to a local food bank!
