In 1971 the gold standard, or backing for US dollars became a thing of the past. Since then we have seen the value of the dollar shrink while gold and silver keeps rising. No matter what your situation having some gold or silver is a worthwhile investment.

    The only reason I know that gold is increasing in value is because my husband has lost his wedding ring twice and each time we replace it, it costs WAY more than the last time. ;( I told him next time it happens, he’s getting a 25 cent ring out of the vending machine at the grocery store.

    That’s really smart! My MIL works at a jewelry store- looks like we should utilize her employee discount to invest in some gold!
