I have been very, very blessed with 2 healthy children. But that wasn’t always the case. If you have followed this blog for any amount of time you have heard me talk about loss, struggles to get pregnant, and more.
I was told when I was younger that I probably wouldn’t be able to have children. Well less than a month after we got married, I got pregnant. We lost that baby but I realized that I wanted a child.
2 very long years of trying later and we had Genghis. When he was a year old we started trying for another baby. I had no idea that it would take so long to get pregnant again.
4 years later we were expecting Miss Stalin.
In total, I have been pregnant 5 times and have 2 children. The longest we tried without getting pregnant was just over 4 years. We talked about different treatments but the finical costs always held us back. It just was never in the cards to spend thousands of dollars to get pregnant.
These two are my world. And I am so lucky to have them.
Did you know that today approximately 7.3 million couples (1 in 6 couples) in the United States have difficulty conceiving?
Not only that but even healthy, normal couples don’t exactly have the greatest odds.
- Females age 20-25, 25% chance per month of conceiving
- Females age 30-35, 15% chance per month of conceiving
- Females age 35-40, 10% chance per month of conceiving
- Female age 40 and up , 5% chance per month of conceiving
Did you catch that? Females between the ages of 20 and 25 have only a 25% chance of conceiving each month. And that doesn’t factor in any infertility issues.
Last week I was lucky enough to take part in a very informative presentation about a new at home infertility treatment. The Stork is a prescription device to aid in natural fertility and conception from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Most doctors will not even begin to discuss infertility treatment or testing until you have been trying to conceive for at least one year. And once that year is up, testing and treatment can be a financial drain.
The Stork is out to change all that. The idea is pretty simple. It involves a condom type collection device as well as a tampon type dispenser. Once the semen is collected, it is inserted into the vagina right against the cervix. Leave it there for 4 hours then remove.
Of course you would want to use The Stork in addition to an ovulation predictor. But the idea that you could conceive without any invasive help and in the privacy or your own home is a huge bonus.
Benefits of The Stork:
Proven technique: Physician technique now available for use in the privacy of home
Safe: FDA Authorized prescription product. Non-reusable device
Natural: Drug-free product that requires no drugs
Non-invasive: Requires no injections or surgery
Easy-to-Use: Condom-like in collection, tampon-like in delivery
Cost-effective: Compared to “next-step” treatment options
Currently The Stork is only available with a prescription (they are hoping that as early as next year it will be available over the counter). But even your regular primary care physician can prescribe it. And starting at just $79.99 for one device, it is a very affordable option.
