Dollywood contacted me about sharing some of the challenges of finding a family vacation spot that we can all enjoy. And because vacations don’t pay for themselves, I said yes!
Since having kids the one thing we try and do is take at least one family vacation every year. With crazy busy schedules and a husband who works out of town a lot it is a great way to make sure we spend some time together just being a family. Last year we did a trip to St Louis and a trip to Disney World. Both were great in their own ways.
But having children with a five year age difference can create difficulty in picking somewhere to go on vacation that will ensure everyone has a great time. My idea of a great vacation would be a quiet and relaxing spot next to a large pool somewhere. My husbands idea of a great vacation would be anything low key with great food. And the kids? Anything fast paced and exciting.
Finding family-friendly spots that have great entertainment, fun activities, and shopping that is more of an experience than just souvenirs can be exhausting. If not almost impossible. Luckily, there’s Dollywood!
Nestled in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, Dollywood is that magical spot that both children and parents can enjoy. If you have never seen the Smoky Mountains, I can promise you that it is some of the most beautiful country! Dollywood delivers the best in live entertainment, exciting rides, great food, shopping and even plenty of ways to kick back and relax.
Entertainment is covered by checking out a country show, travel back to the 50s, with Dollywood’s Dreamland Drive-in or Country Crossroads. If you are looking for something a little more edge of your seat check out the new and exciting Cirque Shanghai. The jaw-dropping stunts and acrobatics will be fun for the entire family.
For those who are looking for more adventure Dollywood has exciting and thrilling rides and attractions. The Eagle, America’s first winged coaster, takes riders on a unique experience that feels as if they are actually soaring high above the Smoky Mountains. Or you and your kids can experience the new “RiverRush,” Tennessee’s first water coaster coming in May. My son and I love coasters, the faster the better, so The Eagle is right up our alley.
If that is still not enough to get you excited, Dollywood has great festivals going on all throughout the year. In May Dollywood will feature the Barbeque and Bluegrass festival. Hear live music from some of the best bluegrass artists and of course sample some amazing barbeque. The park will also have extend hours and nightly fireworks for their Great American Summer theme.
