Despite living in the south it is still cold here. Of course cold to us is 50 degrees but I digress. As a result I have been serving a lot more of what I consider to be cold weather comfort food. Chili fits that perfectly. And as much as I like chili, I never found a recipe that I just loved. I like a lot of onions, peppers and tomatoes in my chili and this recipe has all of that.
Half a jar of 16 ounce salsa.
1 green pepper.
1 pound ground beef.
4 cans of Bush’s Hot Chili Beans.
Chop the onion and green pepper into chunks, add in a pot with the ground beef and cook until browned.
Drain the grease and add it all to your slow cooker.
Add chili beans.
Add chili powder to taste.
Stir well and cook in the slow cooker on low for 6 hours.
Taste about half way through and add more chili powder if needed.
I like mine with diced tomatoes, onion, and cheese. So good!
And for the record despite what some might have you believe chili has both beans and meat! End of discussion.
