Las Vegas is just spectacular. You can visit Venice, stop off at New York, and head off to Egypt, all in an afternoon. In fact, unbeknown to most people, you can even decide to grab your towel and head off to the beach.
We’re talking about the Mandalay Bay. This spectacular hotel, which lies at the far end of the Las Vegas strip away from the downtown area, is home to one of the best pool areas in Las Vegas. It covers an amazing 11 acres, and includes 2700 tons of real sand, three separate heated pools, and a wave pool that holds 1.6 million gallons of water and generates waves up to 4 feet high. You can spend days lazing by your own cabana, or even rent a bungalow or villa on the beach. There’s also a beach club, as well as concerts on the beach that feature some of the biggest acts in the music industry.
If you do decide to pay a visit to the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, the attractions don’t stop at the beach. For example, take a trip to the Shark Reef Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in North America. Marvel at the many different species of fish in the main tank, including a great hammerhead shark, sand tiger sharks and green sawfish – these have an enormous saw-like projection on their nose. In addition to the aquarium itself, there are also a number of other exhibits at the attraction, including a jungle area where you can see golden crocodiles, Komodo dragons, Burmese pythons and tree monitors – a type of lizard. There’s also a pool where you can actually touch various aquatic animals, including horseshoe crabs and rays.
If all of that activity has worked up an appetite, then pay a visit to one of the 24 restaurants at the resort. These include a number of top class restaurants with celebrity chefs, including Michael Mina, Wolfgang Puck, Alain Ducasse and Hubert Keller. If you want the best steak in Las Vegas, drop into Charlie Palmer Steak, voted the number one steakhouse in Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Review. There is also excellent Japanese and Korean food at Kumi, and spicy Mexican fare at the Border Grill.chefs, including Michael Mina, Wolfgang Puck, Alain Ducasse and Hubert Keller. Once you have finished dinner, then it is time to take in a show or spend some time at a club. One of the premier attractions at the Mandalay Bay is Michael Jackson ONE, a stunning show by the Cirque du Soleil that is set to some of Jackson’s best music. There are stunning aerial performances and astounding acrobatics, along with the best urban choreography you will ever see. Alternatively, pay a visit to the House of Blues Music Hall, which has showcased artists from LeAnn Rimes through to Guns N’ Roses. It’s also worth seeing what is on at the Events Center, a 12,000 seat arena that has headline acts such as Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum, and also plays host to major sporting events.
