Thankfully as we are heading into spring we are nearing the end of the nasty cold and flu season. Unfortunately being a mom we don’t have the ability to take a sick day. With kids to take care of we can’t stay in bed all day and get plenty of rest. The meals still have to be cooked, the dishes and laundry done and the list just goes on and on.
When colds and flu are out in full force there are some things you can do to try and keep yourself healthy. I always try and limit trips outside the house. This helps to eliminate exposure to all those nasty germs. I also wipe down the most used surfaces with a bleach cleaner and go kind of crazy with the Lysol.
But sometimes no matter what we do we end up getting sick. I thought recently we were in the clear. A round of strep for both the kids and I managed to come through it with no problems. Now the dreaded colds have stopped by for a visit. I know it is said that weather changes can’t make you sick but when we go from snow one day to 65 degrees and sunny the next, it never fails that someone ends up getting sick.
I have spent the last two days cleaning with bleach, wiping snotty noses and rocking babies at night because she can’t breathe through her nose. And despite my best efforts I can feel myself coming down with something as we speak. My head aches, my nose is snotty and I just feel blah.
But the kids are still going to get up tomorrow and want breakfast. We still have to do our home schooling classes, and I will still have laundry and dishes to do. Not to mention I will still have to cuddle my babies who are under the weather.
This cold I am fighting back with Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil.
