Must See TV Recommendations

If your Facebook news stream is anything like mine you see on a weekly basis someone asking for recommendations on TV shows. I am not a TV junkie but there are some shows that I do love. So if you are looking for some new shows to check out why not give one of these a try!

Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire follows the firefighters, rescue squad and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51. Every episode is full of life saving and fire fighting action along with plenty of insight into each of the characters. And of course there is plenty of personal drama. Chicago Fire airs on Wednesdays on NBC.

Sons of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy just finished its fifth season and as usual it went out with a bang. This show follows the ins and outs of the SAMCRO motorcycle club and their struggle of maintaining their livelihood while still protecting small town Charming, California. While there are countless actors that are noteworthy one in particular steals the show. Gemma Teller-Morrow, played by Katey Sagal (Peg Bundy) is caring and ruthless as the mom of not only the club president but also the club itself. Sons of Anarchy airs on FX.

scandal

This recommendation is from Colleen of Shibley Smiles. Scandal features Olivia Pope who owns a crisis management firm she works with high profile politicians and such. She was on the campaign to get the President elected. The two of them had an affair (are in love), but the bigger picture is a group of people rigged the voting to get the President elected. All of this has been unfolding in the two seasons. Scandal is on ABC on Thursdays.

Once upon a time

This recommendation is from Kimberly at She Scribes. Once Upon a Time features an Evil Witch (Snow Whites mother) who puts a curse on Fairytale land and everyone went to “the real world” to live as normal people and forgot they were fairy tale characters. One little boy believed and brought in Emma to help break the spell. The spell was broken and the fairytale characters now know who they are but are stuck in “this land”. Once Upon a Time is on ABC on Sundays.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead. I admit it, I am totally hooked on this show. I have a weird love of all things zombies and The Walking Dead plays into this perfectly. Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead starts after a global zombie outbreak. You follow along with the cast as they try and not only survive the dead but also learn how to deal with others who are still living. Not only is there plenty of action but you see them try and forge relationships, mourn friends who were lost, and even see new life start. Now in its 3rd season the survivors continue to seek refuge in a desolate and post-apocalyptic world while longing for life as it once was. The Walking Dead airs on Sunday nights on AMC. You can also catch all episodes from the beginning in black and white on Thursday nights.

  1. I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE The Walking Dead. I have never missed and episode. I have them on Blu-ray too and have re-watched each episode (except season 3) at leats 2-3 times each.

Once Upon a Time is an incredible show. How they are able to weave the fairytale world into the real world, and find a way to connect all the characters is amazing.

Chicago Fire is SO GOOD!!! You really get invested in all the characters (Taylor Kinney taking his shirt off from time to time provides nice “eye candy” too). You really feel for the characters.

I’ll have to check out the other shows. Thanks for the recommendations.

    • I will warn you that the first season on Sons of Anarchy I was not a fan. My husband loved it though. By the second season I was hooked and so glad I watched it with him.

  6. I love SOA but I am deathly afraid of zombies so I can not watch that. I don’t care for once upon a time – I prefer Grimm.

  7. I cannot get enough of The Walking Dead! I love it and it’s pretty much the only show I watch religiously! Okay, besides Doctor Who, Downton Abbey and Grimm, True Blood when it’s on.
