Part 6 of 30 Things My Kids Should Know About Me.
Three wishes. It is funny that this came up. Just last week as I was getting Genghis ready for bed we had a talk about what we would wish for if we could wish for anything. He made my heart so happy. His first wish was that his family would always be happy. His second was that he could have all the Lego’s in the world. But his third wish. His third was that he would always obey God.
1. That my family would always follow God.
I know better at my age than to wish for things like always being happy, or perfect health. Death, sickness, and even sadness are all a part of life. So I wish that each and every one of us would remember no matter what happens in life, God is always in control.
2. For $200,000.
Call it winning the lottery without every playing. But that amount of money would change our lives. It would pay off the house and land, and both cars. Can you imagine being out from that debt?
3. To make a real impact on the world.
This is my selfish wish, in that it is just for me. I remember when my Dad died last year, the sheer amount of people who showed up to his funeral, who sent letters, who called and said how they had met him 20 years ago or more and that he had made such a great impact on their lives.
I want to leave that sort of legacy behind.
There is a song by the Newsboys called Hands and Feet. The chorus says “I’ll try to touch the world like you’ve touched my life.” I want that for my life.
