Phonak Hear the World Twitter Party #HeartheWorld

I have been so very, very lucky that the extent of my hearing loss experience is a child who hears things a little muffled out of his left ear.

Due to lots of ear infections, and a set of tubes in his ears, Genghis has some scar tissue that built up in his left ear. This causes him to not be able to hear clearly out of that ear but instead hears things muffled, as if the source of the noise were wrapped in a blanket.

We are so thankful that he can still hear out of that ear and it will never be a major issue for him.

But not everyone has it as lucky as we do. Last year I worked on the Hear the World campaign to help educate others on hearing loss in children and ways that we can still keep them involved and learning. This year, when I came up again, I knew I wanted to join in again.

Phonak Hear the World Twitter Party

Our sense of hearing can play a critical role in education, particularly when we are young. Real and meaningful education happens when kids are truly engaged, and that engagement is only possible when kids can hear and understand the teacher. I’m working with The Motherhood to share insights about the potential impact of hearing loss on children’s education, and how to help these kids engage at school, during this Twitter party with the Hear the World Foundation.
