30 Things My Kids Should Know About Me

Number 1 and 2 are easy. My children.

A family member told me recently that I should be proud of the job I do as a mother with so much grace. That had to be one of the sweetest compliments I have ever gotten. I love being a mother and I feel a lot of pride when I see my children be polite, thoughtful, and even funny.

3. Teaching my oldest to read. When we first started to home school, I was so nervous. I realized that teaching someone to read would lay the ground work for a lifetime of learning. And I was terrified that I wouldn’t be able to do it. Then one day Genghis started reading. And he hasn’t stopped yet. He loves to read and every night when I put him to bed he lays there and reads for at least an hour before he falls asleep.

4. A successful blog. When I first started blogging it was simply an outlet. A way for family to keep track of the kids and how they were doing. Never did I dream it would grow into what it is now. I love the fact that I am able to be a full time stay at home mom while still bringing in a small monthly income. As the kids grow, I know my time spent on the blog will increase and I will see it grow. It is exciting.

5. My marriage. Granted, I am not the only one involved in it but I am very proud of the fact that despite any odds, we have been married for 10 years. And we are still going strong. It is not always easy, it is not always fun. But removing the word divorce from our vocabulary and promising to work on any problems that come our way has not only helped us stay married but also grow stronger and closer as a couple.
