Craft your Spring with Oriental Trading Company — Yellow Tennessee

Craft your Spring with Oriental Trading Company

We love to do crafts around here. They are a great way to spend sometime together and do something out of the ordinary. Plus I usually end up with some really cute decorations to use around the house. But I have found that having little kit type things for crafts really makes it all go more smoothly.

Last time I tried to do a craft with the kids, we started from scratch. I had grand plans. 20 minutes into it and it looked like this:

valentines day crafts

Yep, they both ended up in tears and I gave up.

Then I had the chance to work with Oriental Trading Company. I got to go on a craft shopping spree of sorts and I couldn’t wait for it all to arrive.

Besides having my own children and loving to do crafts with them I also am the Den Leader for our Cub Scout Tigers and I teach second grade art at our home school co-op. I knew I would have plenty of chances to use all the things I picked.

Oriental Trading Company is the nation’s largest direct merchant of value-priced party supplies, arts and crafts, toys and novelties, and a leading provider of school supplies and affordable home décor and giftware. OTC has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Internet Retailers and one of the Top 50 Catalog Companies.

They began in 1932 as one of the nation’s first wholesalers of value-priced novelties and gifts. We became a major supplier to the U.S. carnival trade in the 1950’s before expanding in the 1970’s by using catalogs and direct marketing to target consumers, retailers and businesses. In the 1980’s, our first toll-free telephone number and seasonal catalogs brought continued growth. As the Internet grew in popularity in the late 1990’s, we found a new way to reach its ever-growing number of customers.

During art class we started the semester off by talking about colors. We made color wheels and talked about how mixing primary colors could create secondary colors. These Colorful Snail Tissue Paper Crafts were perfect for showing how colors mixed could create new colors.

A lesson on etching and relief paintings came to life with these great Magic Color Scratch Paper sheets. They loved scratching the paper to see the colors come out. And in the end, pages were put side by side to create a continuous story with their pictures.

But my favorite thing we did was build and paint these Wood Birdhouses.

They were so easy to put together and everyone had a blast painting them.

Everything we tried out was a blast. And the best part is everything is very affordable. I will be doing my craft shopping with Oriental Trading Company from now on.

Oriental Trading Company also is running a great giveaway right now. One person will win $250 towards anything from OTC. The best part is that there is a winner a week for 6 weeks. Enter the Easter Fun Giveaway for your chance to win.
